Every week this publication challenges active members to become AALA Angels. Alongside our generous alumni (i.e. retirees), they make college dreams a reality. On May 16th fifty nine scholars were honored with scholarships to further their post-high school education. From attending aviator school to Harvard, from California State University Los Angeles in our back yard to Middlebury College in Vermont, these students embark on a new phase of life courtesy of AALA Angels, AALA alumni, and corporate sponsors. Fourty four students received $2,500 scholarships and fifteen received $1,500 scholarships. Friends of AALA also recognized the tremendous support given by community volunteers at local school sites and presented five awards each year. READ MORE…
