Esteemed Colleagues:
I am proud to report forward momentum in the AALA/Teamsters Local 2010 Unit J negotiations. Yesterday, I signed three Tentative Agreements (TAs). Article IX addresses a longstanding issue around “flexible time.” The TA reflects language to address concerns shared by Unit J members. Moreover, the TA’s intent is to improve working conditions by creating a more systematic implementation of “flexible hours” amongst other enhancements. Article X – Evaluation Procedures addresses Performance Deficiencies and a timeline for the district to present written documentation prior to a pre-disciplinary meeting. Article XIX – Tuition Reimbursement increases the current stipend of $1,100. Greater details will be forthcoming during the ratification process. Lastly, Classification 2320 (Operations Coordinators, Charter School Division) was accreted to Unit J. Join me in welcoming our newest members.
Accolades to Alberto M. Carvalho, Superintendent for acknowledging our members and bargaining team on May Day 2025; Dr. Kristen Murphy, Associate Superintendent for being at the table and propelling negotiations forward; and the Office of Labor Relations team led by Robert Samples, Director.
I am back at the bargaining table with our AMAZING Certificated Bargaining Team as we speak. We look forward to similar outcomes and ask for your continued, resolute, and unwavering support as we bargain the contracts you have come to earn.
In UNITY,
Maria
